All you need to do before ordering the biminitop is to choose the length, height and width of the biminitop that best fits the size of your boat.
The length (L) and height (H) determining how much shade will offer your biminitop.
Determine where the biminitop going to be fixed and put what is the range of the top, if you fold it. See also where the top is in its lowered position, at the back of the boat. Convince yourself that there is enough space at the front and back of the biminitop to mount the lashing eyes on the boat, where the straps of the biminitop be attached.
Using a tape measure, you can determine the length of the biminitop provides the desired amount of shade on your boat.
The main mounting point is approximately in the middle of the biminitop on both sides of the boat. The straight and cover plates that come with the top are designed for mounting on flat surfaces. Optional brackets are available for rail mounting and side plates for side mounting.
After you determine where the confirmation biminitop going to come on the boat, measure the distance between the attachment points, so as to determine the width (B) of the top that you need.
The frame is width adjustable, so it can be mounted within the specified range indicated in the dimensions if you ordered the biminitop. (See illustration above)
Example of a width of 155 to 169 cm: This means that the biminitop is 155 cm wide, but can be mounted to a width of 169 cm. Thus, there is a possible adjustment of +/- 15 cm. It is better i.v.m, the stability in order to draw out the bottom of the biminitop i.p.v inside, but this is possible!
Choose the width that best matches your measurement of the width between the fixings.
You determine the correct height while standing in the boat, measure straight up the desired height from the attachment points. You and any passengers should be able to stand well on somewhat larger boats. If you mount the bimini top on a small boat, do not go too high; if you can just stand on it with your head and knees slightly bent, it is already good. The higher you go, the less shade. Especially on small rubber dinghies or fishing boats, you usually sit and there is no room to move your seat if it comes into the sun. If you can stand slightly bent under the bimini top on such boats, it is actually already good.
Additional information for sailboats
Pay close attention to sailboats because there are a few more things you need to take into account. Ask yourself when you are going to use the bimini top. If you also want to be able to use the bimini top while sailing and the boom hangs above the bimini top, keep in mind that when you hoist the sail you usually lower the crane line. This causes the boom to hang lower and certainly if you are sailing close to the wind and the mainsheet is pulled tight, the boom usually comes a bit lower.
It is also useful to take into account the mounting location. Sailboats often have a raised cockpit edge. If you place the bimini top on the cockpit edge, this can significantly limit the freedom of movement because there is a frame in the way. Usually, but not always, it is more convenient to place the bimini top on the outer edge of the gangway so that you can walk forward at all times.

You may also need to take the backstay or double backstay into account. Often you place the bimini top in front of this stay but sometimes that is inconvenient. We can also make a two-way zipper in the middle of the bimini top between the tubes in this way you can create more shade. If you have two stays that is also possible but you must measure very precisely how far apart these stays are at the highest point of the bimini top.
